Birdless
This birdhouse was placed on the trunk of this large Douglas fir many years ago. The size of the tree disguises just how large this bird house really is. Perhaps it was intended for an owl. Whatever the idea was, it has not worked out as there has never been a nest built here.
It is located in the forested lands of the Friday Harbor marine station on San Juan Island.

This post was scheduled in advance as I am out of town and completely off grid for the first two weeks of June. Naturally I won’t be answering any comments until I get back – but please, don’t hesitate to comment, I will do my best to respond when I can.

Ooooh, I love the wide aperture again! 😀 It makes the world look so tiny!

Hi Toad – thank you, and I was enjoying myself. I had a really good time with good people volunteering on an archaeology project on one of the oldest sites in western North America.

Thanks so much! I am always a bit surprised by which of my photos garner the most interest. This is one of those pictures that I would not have predicted, even though I like it.
