Edge Grass

More from the Friday Harbor archives. These scenes are the edges of the low cliffs that are common around the lab property.

I upped the contrast and that oversaturated the shots, but I like that colour of blue, so have left the saturation levels alone.

    • Hi David – thanks for spending some of your spare time in my blog 🙂 I love those succulent blossoms too, they are so bright and found in such difficult rocky spots where little else thrives.

  1. WOW is right! This is an outstanding series. If I had to pick a favorite (sometimes I feel compelled to do so), I would pick “GREEN AND YELLOW EDGE”. Or maybe “PILING EDGE, LONG EXPOSURE”. It could also be “YELLOW AND GREEN EDGE”. What the heck, they’re all great.

    • Hi Ken – thanks so much. These edges have a different meaning for me than these photos reveal. When i was a kid it was a forbidden zone, which I sometimes ignored. Once I fell over one of these edges (actually I think it was twice, two different locations) and somehow did not hurt myself (much) but it sure did scare me. And besides all that (or possibly connected) I don’t like heights. These are just high enough to make me feel uneasy – probably 3 or 4 m. So, there is something extra for me about making the edges look beautiful.
