Trafalgar Broom
Much of the broom burned out of Trafalgar Park last year, but plenty remains around the edges.
I don’t much like broom, it’s an invasive species that spreads at the expense of indigenous plants. But, I do like to photograph broom seed pods with their hairy edges.

This post prepared in advance of my trip. I will be back in a few days; in the meantime this is a continuation of a series from Trafalgar Park, in Oak Bay near Victoria, BC. I won’t be reviewing the blog, but will reply to comments when I get back.

Great backlighting – love the detail!

Thanks David – I suspect backlight is the best way to depict these seed pods.

They do make interesting subjects, don’t they. Beautiful lighting on these.

Thank you Ken. I expect I will shoot some more pictures of them, not wanting to celebrate them, but it’s hard to resist that hairy edge to an otherwise hard pod.

Hi Joseph – thanks so much! I like that bluish colour too – the sun was still setting, but I was in the shadow of the rock outcrop in the background and I guess that added the blue to the mix.
