Purple Gutter
Some purple to liven up my yellow series that I took during a walk in the rain last weekend. This curb also has some faint foot prints.
I was not really paying attention to the plants around me, so I can’t say for sure the source of these leaves, but I would guess an ornamental plum for the purple ones. I like the balance that the little yellow leaf provides to the green one.

A true collision of colours but in a very good way. The leaves make me think of a nice serving of red cabbage!

This is epic! Wow, now those are colors, my friend! I love how the frame gets split by the two vastly different colors here… and these particular tones of yellow and purple really compliment each other rather nicely!

It is funny isn’t it. I would never have put those colours together on purpose for a photo, or anything else either. But does work, if you are not in need of resting your eyes that is.

Good word for it… I would not want to live with this one on my wall I don’t think.

I think these are love-em or hate-em type colours. In this context they are great. On a jacket, or as colours in plaid pants, well….

Well Katherine, that might be going a bit far, you know! But thank you!!
I would love to think the photos are a reflection of me, but that would be quite a stretch 🙂

Okay, I’ll tone down the praise a bit and say your talent for photography is amazing. I really love your blog and when I am ill and unable to get to the computer I miss it. With the photos I collect I get transported to other eras and imaginary lifestyles. With your photos I am transported to other places and imaginary worlds of colour, texture and mood.

Katherine, you have a real way with words. I am convinced! And thank you so much. It is my pleasure to transport you with my photos. And I too feel transported by your images from other times – you have a real eye for the ones that tell stories, usually old stories, but often with a currency that is timeless.

Hi Mrs. Toad. Thanks!
I know they are not very good colours to disguise a toad, but it was nice and damp!

Good morning Ken – thanks! And here I was thinking it was all a bit shrill and gauche. Not that I tried to tone that down in post or anything 🙂

The colors are so rich – almost luxurious. I also like that one sprig of green grass on the top of the curb, which balances nicely with the green and yellow leaves.

Luxurious? I guess they could be though that was not my first thought – one might find them in a rich brocade or a Baroque church.

Hi Richard – nice to have you visiting and leaving a comment! It does have the colour of cabbage. I could have called this post Curb Coleslaw, had I thought of it.
