Dock Edge II
Scenes from the Cowichan Bay dock continue with more yellow edges, red accents, and boats.
The green and blue edging the dark areas in the first picture is a WP upload artifact – not present in the various versions I produced for upload, at various sizes and contrasts. Even the ones sized to fit the blog exactly were still messed up. But, I like the image enough for the mood it gives to display it with these warts.
.
The bottom image is a response to a comment from Joseph de Lange of Mrjom’s blog (which concerns itself in the general area of today’s post) on one of yesterday’s posts, a comment I misread to line up with my own feelings (and not as the comment it was). Anyway, I was not completely happy with that other version of these railings and reworked the bottom image, which I had tried rather unsatisfactorily in black and white. I quite like this version.

Canon 5Dii, hand-held, HDR images processed from 3 brackets each, with following lenses and exposure settings:
- 1st Nikkor-N 24mm/f2.8 lens, ISO125, f2.8, 1/320th, +1 EV and -1 EV.
- 2nd Nikkor-N 24mm/f2.8, ISO125, f 2.8, 1/50th, +1 EV and -1 EV.
- 3rd Canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens, ISO1250, f 2.8, 1/100th, +1 EV and -1 EV.

The first shot is so perfect, Ehpem – the composition, the reflections of light, the tonal variety, the mood. Wow! I would print and frame this if it were my shot 🙂

Thanks Karen! I am not sure that the image is up to printing – some strange processing artifacts. Maybe printing it small.

Your HDR application here is very subtle, and I just love it for it. The skies and air was very dramatic, gloomy and cold, and you’ve done a top drawer job with expressing this visually with your work here, my friend!

Thanks Toad! Gloomy is a very good word, but the all those colours mitigate it quite a bit.

I really like the first shot, but the 3rd one is amazing

Thank you Chris – I am pleased you like that one. It was worth revisiting the processing since the first pass did nothing for me.

I find that a lot, I think as my processing gets better so my old shots look dated and I have to revisit them.

Thank you Karen. It is surprising how much colour there is out there, even on the wet overcast day!

Burst of colour on a moody day. Ephem, I really like the abstracted one, too!
