Trial Island Sunrise II
Another shot of the sunrise behind Trial Island from my archive. I suppose this would be considered the very tail end of the blue hour.
It too was taken on the last day of 2011, 16 minutes before Trial Island Sunrise that I posted yesterday, and a much longer exposure was possible in those few minutes.
I have to apologize to David Williams who commented yesterday that he wanted more sky. It isn’t going to happen with this one!

What a great observation! All the more so since my partner has recently been sewing doll’s clothes from blue velvet (http://tinyurl.com/cbmqphc). So why did I not think of that? Takes an artist’s eye I suppose.

Ahahahaa, thanks for the mention! The sea is very soothing (it has to be the colour), I really like it (even though, /gasp, very little clouds)! 😛 I’ve really enjoyed these vistas, thank you for sharing!

Thanks David. I am sure now that had I shot a sliver of water, island and an expanse of cloud that it would have been a really interesting shot too. Given the colour of the water it is not too hard to imagine some things about the colour of the overhead sky.

Thanks Ken. Part of the reason they lurked was the lack of editing tools. This one did not require that much editing, but a much different kind possible with LR4 than Picasa. But also, I had pulled what I thought were the best out of that bunch. Now I see others. Actually, this is a good way to cut New Years Eve festivities short – to get up early on New Years Eve to photograph the sunrise leaves less energy at the other end of the day (“early” being seasonal of course, and more like 8am).
