Plum Blossom Macro II
More 5X macros of a plum blossom and a flower bud.
I showed some other shots from our ornamental plum two weeks ago in Plum Blossom and last week in Plum Blossom Macro. These two are HDR treatments of three brackets each. They lose a lot of the lovely high-key aspects of the other images, but gains some thing in sharpness and clarity.

This is a sweet macro setup you have. I’m guessing you have this mounted on a tripod in order to keep the composition steady. I may have to try dig out my old bellows, if we get any flowers here.

Hi Ken. Totally tripod all the way. Not only that but all the things I can find to steady it – 2 second delay, live view mode to keep the mirror out of the equation, tripod on concrete floor isolated from subject table, doing it when people are not walking around in the room, etc. Even then the longer exposures are much less crisp than the short ones. Which means I need speedlights or something. I would like to take it out of doors on the tripod sometime, but need a flash to get the shutter speed high enough that a bit of subject motion does not matter.
