Dull as Dishwater

This was the scene in my kitchen sink the other day. A mixing bowl, abandoned mid-wash and a slowly dripping tap were creating bubbles around a small cleared circle. The bubbles were passing through a range of irridescent colours after each drip splashed down.
How could I resist? In fact I took quite a few pictures and probably you will see more of them.

Well, I am weak after all, so resisting was not likely…

I think you win the prize for the most unusual place to find an image today! The colours in the second image are magical – no other word will do!

Hi Andy – this really goes with my picture from the gravy pan taken a while back (http://wp.me/p1R4lY-4kV) another unusual place to find a picture.

I just tried one as a desktop background. I like it. No worries, I won’t distribute it but you might think about that!

Hi Maddog – that is a great idea – maybe my son’s shot of our cat will have to give up the spot for a while..
I don’t mind if people do that kind of thing – it means they are looking at my images every day, which is a good thing.

Hi Ken – that would be fun – to see a bunch of bubbly dishwater shots all over the internet. I am pleased you like the idea.

Wow! These are beautiful. (And excellent examples of how there are photographic subjects everywhere!)

Thanks Melinda – it is true, subjects are all around us. I tend to see indoors more often when it is cold and unfriendly outside. I wonder why that would be.

Hmmm…I can’t come up with anything that would explain it.
On a completely unrelated note, we are under winter storm advisories until Monday, which means I will be inside all weekend. Perhaps I can photograph dishwater, dust motes, and fireplaces. To start with….

Perhaps you can photo your cat. Or some people. Something really different than the usual.

If the cat takes a nap ( ! ), I will try to sneak up on her. People are harder: they recognize the camera and hide.

Very inconsiderate of people to hide from your camera. Their loss as you probably take nice portraits, or could do if they would let you. Cats always nap, so that sounds pretty easy.

I really don’t like to take portraits. (Unless they are of my granddaughter.) I stick with old buildings and etc., as they are far less likely to tell me if they are displeased with my work.

This is going to be an interesting series like the birefringent spider web one. I am looking forward to it.

Hi Val – birefringent – that is a new word for me, and a good one too. Thanks! Those web shots rely less on processing than these ones, but they do have a lot in common.
