Look Out
This is a small lookout at the east end of Beacon Hill Park – at the top of the slope shown in this post. It is set out from the sidewalk, which has the same railing all along the steeper slopes. I think the lookout part is an afterthought – the manhole cover speaks to a far more down-to-earth function than gazing outwards.

I like the rather fun juxtaposition between this image and the banner photo above it, of the child staring down through the holes in the metal. One a lookout, the other a lookdown. 🙂

Hi Laurie – a lookdown is a very good way of putting it. I have been enjoying my granddaughter’s vigilant scrutiny of my blog. It amuses me.
