Drain Yoga
I came across a woman doing yoga on the Ross Bay storm drain one morning in April.
After she was done she took a picture with her smart phone.
She took enough time to have posted something to Facebook about this great spot for yoga.
Then she washed off the intertidal odours and continued with her run.
I took photos as soon as I got out of the car and from various vantage points, not wanting to miss the moment.
In the end, as you can see, I got a good range of shots and even had time to change film.

Olympus mjuII, Fuji Superia X-TRA 400 and Ilford XP2 both expired ca 2004.

Do you that she might have been posting something on Facebook about the creepy photographer behind her?
But it doesn’t matter: she adds a lot to the images.

She does add a lot to the images!
It could be she was posting something about me, but I don’t think she was aware I was taking pictures. The mjuii is really small, and silent enough to not be heard with even a little bit of wave action on that noisy gravel beach. Maybe one day she will find these picks and let us know!

This is the rare time that the human element has been included in the drain series and the photos are a real treat.

Hi Ken – thanks so much. I used to wait for people to get off the drain before I took pictures, but recently I have realised that they can add something good to the shot. I think that is especially true of some of these yoga ones.

Very nice series of picctures. I like the delicate colours in the Fuji film ones

Hi geomack – thanks for the comment. I had a lot of trouble getting the scan just right with that roll of film. It had colour shifted a bit, but in the end I think it came out well. The black and white roll, which uses colour processing but is monotone, was a florid green instead of black. It does not seem to have affected the outcome though – some other pictures from that roll came out really well.
