Mayne Morning II

Another view from Mayne Island last weekend, this is a few hours later than Mayne Morning looking north up Georgia Strait.

For this shot I set a slow shutter speed and panned the camera sideways to blur detail and emphasize the horizon line.

It served to erase a lot of white gull specks near the horizon too.

    • Hi Melinda. I have been meaning to try some motion like this on really long exposures, like with my pinhole camera. Mounting it on a video tripod so that I can get the horizontal movement totally flat and smooth, and then moving it for a long time – half a minute, that kind of thing. So this could be considered a baby step in that direction. When I have a bit more time, I am going to try it. Might as well put the video head to some good use, and the pinhole camera.
