SGang Gwaay VIII
Another shot taken while travelling on the Passing Cloud to the UNESCO World Heritage Site SGang Gwaay located on the south-west side of Gwaii Haanas.
Access to the village is tightly regulated – including the numbers of people ashore at one time, the beaches they disembark upon and the timing of tours through the site.
This is in aid of preserving the visitor experience as a special time for quiet contemplation and to preserve the level of impact to the site from visitors.
This photo was taken on the main beach used for accessing the trail to the site.
I expect that people who arrive at the site by such peaceful means are especially grateful for the attentions to keeping visitors spread out through the day.
If you want to know more about SGang Gwaay I have written about it in several posts (link) from previous visits.
