Today my parents have been married for 63 years – congratulations!
Since they are fans of this subject, and because it’s been almost a month since the last storm drain photo, I mark the day with sunrise and drain.

The extremely slow gestation of the new bridge continues, but is now much more visible.
Soon now, the venerable blue bridge will be removed.
I have taken quite a few photos of the bridge the last 5 or 6 years as preparations for its replacement have “progressed”, but my camera-toting visits have been infrequent the last few years.
I took this picture on New Year’s day because of the can in the bottom.
The can held “hard iced tea” – a guaranteed hangover drink, especially in the quantities typically consumed New Year’s Eve.
I was out shooting with Earle whose work you can find on twitter as @Takgyver01 and also here.
He had a Spotmatic and various lenses, including my Takumar 17/4 fisheye.
I had my Mamiya M645 Super with a wide-ish 55/2.8 lens and shot a roll of Lomography Color 800, and another of Kodak Portra 400.
I also had an Olympus XA in my pocket loaded with JCH Street Pan 400, but that roll is not yet finished.
The late afternoon light combined with a touch of under exposure saturated the yellows quite nicely.
Along an alley in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
I had trouble composing this one as the 35mm lens was not quite wide enough for the width of the alley.
Each of these shots has (more…)
Downtown Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
I know its January and the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere.
All the more reason to hearken back to August and the idyllic view from Yeatman Bay on Quadra Island.
Happy New Year everyone.
Happy New Year everyone. Thank you so much to all of you for visiting my blog in the past year.
These are some of my favourites from 2017. I have not tried to shorten the list too much, but have left out a bunch of shots that could be included. Some of the shots here appeared on Instagram and not in my blog – I was surprised at how many there were.
You will see that most of the ones I like are on film, with a smattering of digital images. A highlight this year was a workshop I attended in Los Angeles given by Sam Abell. There are several pictures from that workshop included here as well as many from trips that I made where photography was something that I spent concentrated effort on. Probably I should more often devote hours at a time to making photographs, rather than my usual few minutes here and there.
I would love to hear what your favourites are from this group, or if there is another image absent from this list but which has stuck in your mind that I posted here or on Instagram.
See my About page for details.
