Along the Built Edge

2015-M645-004-003

These photos are from a roll of film I mostly shot a couple of months ago when Melinda was visiting.

Some are at the perennial favourite storm drain, and others in the Chinese Cemetery.

Most of the the rest of this roll, including the best from the Chinese Cemetery, are at 52 Rolls today, at this link.

No Flush

No Door No More

IMG_9723

There used to be a doorway through this part of this wall which is very clear from the adjacent room.

Because most wall cladding has been stripped in other rooms, you can see that the front of the house used to be a smaller building that was tacked (well, nailed) on the front of another.

The window and door openings were boarded up and new ones cut in different locations.

The marks on this wall are where the door used to be.

I am not sure though that they aren’t the marks of a wardrobe fixed to the wall, even though this room has a fairly large closet.

Church Sails

IMG_9975-Edit

This is another photograph from the parkade I visited with Melinda Green Harvey website.

There was work underway on the upper levels, and some tarps were blowing in the breeze up against the next door church.

I think they look a lot like sails on an old sailing ship. (more…)

Grave Stones

IMG_9991

More pictures from a visit to Ross Bay Cemetery with Melinda Green Harvey.

I wonder if there is an above-ground coffin in this, or if the monument is just plunked on top of the grave.

Maybe the lid comes off and you can add ashes of urns?

It all seems a bit mysterious and I doubt it is meant to.

At one time people were used to going to funerals and cemeteries and seeing the burial act.

Not so much now, with cremations and lower mortality and so on.

Dandelions? What Are Those?

IMG_0429

The tools of the trade for perfecting a lawn, spotted in my neighbourhood.

These are not mine, I just let the dandelions grow in the lawn if they will.

After all, they are green long after the lawn goes yellow with the summer drought.
