Last year I did my first Urban Dune post that featured this same image, though a different crop from it. That image was processed in Picasa to the best of my abilities and by then I was exceeding its capacity regularly, to the point I could not save my edits without Picasa throwing a fit and changing everything.
Today I revisit that photograph, with a new crop as a continuation of my experiments with Topaz Clarity that I began in yesterday‘s post. The image above is processed with Clarity, on top of the Lightroom 4 edits which are showing in the image below.

Back to Friday Harbor for a view of the County Courthouse and I am assuming also the administrative seat for the San Juan Islands.

I was rummaging in my archives where I found this shot. It is part of a series that I ran more than a year ago, including Urban Dune and Moon Tank.

My bathroom has great light in it for a short while every day – the light is reflected from the wall of the yellow house next door through a narrow window, and from there through the glass shower stall. It is all very yellow and warm and diffused. I have previously shown shots taken, of the cat’s water-glass and a vase on the window sill. Today’s shots are even more about the light, and the shadows.

More iris shots from the garden. These are all flower buds. They are nice in colour, but also in black and white. My mood suggests black and white so here you go.

Yesterday, before I went off to work, the morning light pulled me, the camera and macro lens out into the slightly dewy grass, a subject that has drawn my eye before. I like both these shots, but prefer the shallower depth of field above the slightly deeper version below for the background blur, the greater feeling of depth and the increased sense of a water-colour or other painting.

The lovely morning light that yesterday was illuminating the Iris flowers, is today brought to my cat, and her irises. After taking the flower pictures I found her patiently waiting on the back step for a portrait to be made.
