Gull Drain
This is another storm drain picture with two crops that place different emphasis on the texture of the drain surface, a gull taking flight as I took the picture and the overall setting.
You can find the other storm drain pictures through this link. Sorry about the poor cropping job on the image below. I only noticed the white strip when proofing in WP and my computer is in the shop so can’t edit it and upload a new version.

And, if its your birthday today, then HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Lovely image. I like the three different crops. They each draw attention to something new.

Thanks Ryan – I am glad you see them that way too. I could not settle on which one I liked best, so threw them all out there.

And sometimes that’s the best thing to do. 😉

It’s like a landing strip! 😀 I like the first image the best, there’s just something about the gull taking off.

Maybe the gull is practicing it’s landings? Touch and go runs.

Is it your Birthday, Ephem?
The varying textures and tones make for striking compositions. I love the grittiness of the foreground.

Nope, not *my* birthday, but I know three birthdays today 🙂

And here is one of them, in a blog 🙂

Third one works best for me because of the distant background but I like the surface texture of the concrete in the first one. Cant have everything in one pic I guess. I will draw your birthday greeting to the attention of any suitable recipients. Thanks!

Well, I might have been able to crop it so that both of those things were in the picture, since those are all the same image. But, can’t even try until the computer comes home.
