Boatshed Sunset

Another shot from my Read Island visit, the boat shed again. This is taken shortly after yesterday’s photo, but by this time the fog had sucked all the colour out of the sunset and it works much better in black and white.
This photo, contrary to appearances, is in focus. At least the edge of the roofing at the tip of the roof is. I guess f1.4 might have been the wrong aperture setting, but I like the soft focus of the whole foggy scene enough to include it here.

Soft is cool for this type of shot. The inclusion of the log-line (for want of a better description) bottom left is very clever – it balances the image and contibutes considerably to its success.

Thanks Andy – that line of logs is a breakwater of sorts, anchored in place – it reduces a lot of wave action in the dock area.

I don’t mind the slightly soft focus. It’s the type of look you get when shooting in fog.

Thanks Ken. I agree. And not least because of fog settling on the lens, at least the kind we get around here with is especially damp fog.
