Cubism II

As I noted in a recent post about this object (I don’t feel that it is properly called a structure) I had been oblivious to it’s existence in spite of numerous visits to the Gonzales Observatory. On looking at the pictures I took, I think I have discovered why that might be – it has been freshly painted and is standing out from the surroundings more than it used to. A mundane explanation. I hope no one gets in trouble for removing its disguise.

I have also considered Katherine’s (Photobooth Journal)  suggestion that it might be a concrete Pandorica, stripped of its text inscriptions. Since it has a vent pipe, I think this is not likely, unless it too is part of a disguise. But, if you look at my original Gonzales Observatory post, you will see that these days it is keeping a very close eye (or nose) on the earth’s atmosphere. Perhaps something extraterrestrial is up with this cube.

I tried some more radical processing to see if something was revealed, kind of like treating rock paintings digitally so as to bring up faded areas. And indeed, there are remnants of inscriptions to be seen. I can’t read them, but maybe you can.

    • Hi Mathias – I am torn between the two. I like the blank whiteness of the ‘normal’ processing (which in fact is a lot of processing since the light was poor from this angle) and how it seems to float in the air a bit more than the more ‘radical’ processing which is in fact just one more filter beyond the first image.

Radical is what is needed for revealing extraterrestrial presences, and ghosts too (though my post a couple back shows that a leaky old set of bellows does a pretty good job of finding ghosts).

  1. Hi Mr E. Woo hoo! I got a mention in your post. How lovely! I like the “radical processing” on the second pic. It gives it an extraterrestrial luminosity that suits the narrative and the location.

    • Hi Katherine. I added a link to your blog, something I had meant to do when preparing the post…
Extraterrestrial is what this facility is all about.

      • Hi Mr E. Yes, that it so cool, isn’t it? The reality of our universe is so much more complex and exciting than mere fiction. Did you read about the new discovery that they think confirms the big bang theory? A totally mind blowing article! Here is the link. I have read it many times and find it so enthralling to think it could be the truth!

Thanks for linking to my blog! I will see if I can work out if anyone came from here to it. Should be fun to work out!

      • Thanks Katherine – that is a fascinating discovery. The multiverse idea is too grand for my brain to manage. I can’t imagine, for instance, that there is (infinitely?) more than one of you (or me) living out parallel lives in other universes. How could that be? Not that I think I am unique in any particular way, just that it seems so unlikely.

I find when I give a link in my blog that there are virtually no clicks recorded by WP that go out to that link. I also find when I am referenced in another blog that I see very few incoming clicks. My experience with WP suggests that it may not record them very accurately, but that is just a hunch, not based on testing of any kind. I don’t get a lot of traffic that is registered on my blog anymore since they introduced the new reader (down about 75%) though since I sometimes get more likes than views I know that WP is not keeping meaningful stats for us anymore. Thus it could be that if someone sees a link in the reader and clicks on it that I will never know since I don’t know about that viewer in the first place.

      • Yes, interesting about the stats. I am finding the same.

Re the multiverse theory, isn’t it wonderfully unbelievable, yet really really cool? I was pondering whether there may be a you and me etc in a universe where they have figured out how to extend life indefinitely. Could our consciousness transfer after our deaths in this universe to another one? Could that be an afterlife of some sort for us? I am not religious but find the thought that there may be more for us out there that has a scientific basis quite enthralling.

      • It is wonderfully strange, and extremely imaginative (not to mention analytical) of the physicists to come up with these ideas.
