Square Lines
More test shots from the Olympus XA2. These three photos are taken in Market Square a few steps from where I bought the camera.
These are among the first 5 shots I took with the XA2. I like all of them, and there are more in this series, some of which I might even like better.
I bought the camera at Camera-Traders.com which is in Market Square. They rent camera gear, sell used equipment (including over the internet) and I find them a pleasure to do business with.
If you want to more about the XA series, then I recommend this website – it is a treasure trove of information and useful links.

Excellent eye to see the potential in these, I too particularly like the last one – the changes of floor and light colour are fascinating.

Thanks Andy. There are a few more. One today that is my favourite and another on the weekend.

I like the bottom one. At first I thought it was a wall, but I see it is a floor with a Douglas fir post rising from it and rust stains and boot marks below.

Hi Richard – yes, it is a floor – it is at a corner in the decks that are around the square at different levels, hence the big post. The join between the tiled surface and wood decking is uneven and that yellow painted metal is to prevent tripping, or allow wheelchairs, or both. I like that one best too for the variations in the background

Marvelous, Ehpem! I adore temporary light patterns and how they shift over time – did you return at another time of day to capture them in a different way?

Hi Lynn – since I took these pictures there has been almost no sun. I was back there, but it was a flat day. Visiting at different times of the day is a very good idea. It would be interesting to choose one of these locations and set up a tripod for a timelapse as well.

Interesting little series. Might even make an unusual triptych.

Thanks Ken – that is an excellent idea. It could be very interesting if done with the Pen as well – a fliptych could work very well. Or manipulated in post, for which my skills are still very minimal. The Pen does have film in it right now ….
