Drain Breaker
This storm drain structure in Ross Bay is one of my most frequently photographed subjects, as you can see at this link.
When I was making these beach pictures I was thinking of a black and white conversion without knowing for sure that the expired film would pretty much require such treatment.
The Olympus XA series have a hair trigger shutter release – my XA much more so than this XA2, but even so I occasionally manage to fire off a shot unexpectedly with both cameras.
I quite like the one below where the storm drain is just visible once you know to look for it.
In some ways it gives a better sensation of the wind and water movement that the first shot.

The graininess of this old film really adds a nice heaviness (if that is the right word to use) to these moody sea shots.

Hi Joseph – I agree. I am finding that the expired colour film often works out better when converted to black and white and the grain is a part of that.

Thanks Richard. East Van has attractions that can be found through the lens as well. If I lived there, this blog would look quite different!
