The light marks Brotchie Ledge, a reef at the mouth of Victoria Harbour that has claimed ships in the past.
The storm drain never lets me down for some thing to see, especially first thing on winter mornings.
Most of this roll can be seen as my roll 49 at 52 Rolls at this link.
This shot was on a roll of film from the spring.
Calla lilies grow very well in our garden and many of them come indoors.
Taken on a test roll in a Canon EOS3, pinhole shots on that same roll are published at 52rolls.net (here).
There are some difficult-to-view photos on this, my Week 48 post at 52 Rolls, But they do help me think about things photographic so serve some purpose.
- At the top is a gallery of some nice scenery shots made by someone else on a roll of film still in a camera when I bought it.
- At the bottom is a gallery of photos from my granddaughter’s birthday party made on the end of the roll in the same camera and they are sweet and endearing.
- In the middle are shots made by someone of an alcoholic’s apartment. It was the last use of the camera by that person, probably years ago.
They are very difficult to look at as they tell a very sad and horrible story.
If you want to view any of those galleries, then go to this link.
This post includes some difficult found images, as well as pictures of my own, from a roll of film bought partially exposed in a camera. I was quite disturbed to discover these images on the processed film. And this was made more difficult, for no rational reason, because they were on the same roll as pictures of my granddaughter’s third birthday party.

On lower Discover Street is a large mural, of which this is part. It has changed a few times in the past few years, so I expect to have something different to show from here in the near future.

I spent a day or so going through part of my archive and re-editing pictures from 2011, including generating new panoramas. That year I did a series of posts about the cairns erected in the Municipality of Oak Bay to commemorate Songhees culture and history. Last week I was contacted by a teacher whose class is doing a project about the cairns and hoped to use my images.
While getting images ready for that purpose, I came across a few I had not previously published, and did not really notice had merit when I took them.
Nice to find a stash of forgotten photos that are worth airing in public.
Not totally sure what was going on Oak Bay Avenue when I turned the corner to a blocked off street and characters like this.
I think it was a Halloween party for children, not quite underway.
