While on the Passing Cloud we made a trip to Cape St. James (map link here) at the very southern end of Haida Gwaii.
Cape St. James is an extremely isolated and exposed location that is pounded and torn at by the winter storms.
And by any other smaller wind that might come up at any time of the year.
Fog in the distance, looking towards Japan from the west side of Kunghit Island (map link) from Passing Cloud.
Dusk from the Passing Cloud while at anchor between cruises in Gordon Cove on Moresby Island, Haida Gwaii.
A Risso’s dolphin at the mouth of Bag Harbour seen from the Passing Cloud.
See my earlier posts Risso’s and Risso’s II for other photos of these guys, but in Louscoone Inlet.
I recently put up a video of the Louscoone Inlet pod(s) which can be found here if you are interested.
While on the Passing Cloud in Gwaii Haanas we anchored near Burnaby Narrows (Dolomite Narrows) a couple of times.
Here the moon is rising as the sun sets.
This dense dark fog was seen east of Kunghit Island (map link) from Passing Cloud.
Moving beneath it was like moving into the dusk.
A mandatory stop when touring on boats such as the Passing Cloud is at Hot Springs Island.
The hot springs here dried up after a strong earthquake a few years ago, but recently they have started to flow again.
However, the springs have moved and no longer fill the pools that were constructed for visitors, like the one above.
See my About page for details.
