Beach Hedge
Like my recent posts of an arbutus tree and rose hips, this is from a walk at the end of the afternoon when the light was really poor. I am pretty sure that the people that live on the other side of the street see to it that the hedge is trimmed frequently as it would easily block their view if left untamed.
The hedge is along Beach Drive near where it joins with King George Terrace. McNeill Bay is in the background. This is the area of the Songhees village of Chikawich, now represented only by a very large archaeological site beneath the street, lawns and houses in the area. It was sad to see the body of a harbour seal rolling back and forth at the edge of the waves just beneath this location.
Here is a map of this corner of McNeill Bay, you can see this very hedge between the beach and Beach Drive.
EDIT: As you can see in the comments below Juanita was interested in seeing the colour version of this photograph. So here is one, colours slightly tweaked to get the most out of a pretty drab photo. I did not try too hard the first time around, pretty much went straight to B&W. I am a bit surprised at how much colour I could pull out of it.

I like the black and white better 🙂 but maybe if it were more green?? Like a demanding green.. I guess I have this vision in my head lol

I am glad you approve of my choice to go monochrome on this one. I know what you mean about green. Could do with more of it about now.

I was curious as to why I was the only comment too!! Thought maybe you needed to moderate or something??

Must have been one of those days, and an image that did not really capture the imagination. It’s interesting and I should be learning from it, I suppose.

I love the photo though, maybe it would have fetched a bigger response if it were in color??

You could well be right. I have been noticing that people like the colours in low light situations. Maybe I should reconsider this image in colour.

There you go Juanita – inserted one into the post. Tell me if you like it better than the b&w.
And if anyone else is looking back this far, maybe the will chip in as well.
