Breakwater Blocks
Here are the colour and monochrome versions of another image from last Friday’s trip to Ogden Point Breakwater. You can find out more about the breakwater in my first post of this series.
This is on the first corner of the breakwater looking west towards Metchosin and the Sooke Hills beyond. This time I prefer the colour version.
Yesterday evening I accidentally published what was going to be today’s post, and I published as if it were February 1st. So, you may well have missed it as it disappeared into the mists of ancient history. You can find it here.

Ever think about doing a muted colour version (easy way that I like doing the muted look is to create the B&W layer, then lower the opacity)? I would have to say I like the colour version, the sky/water is a tad to blown for my liking. 🙂

Hi David – I don’t have the right software. Well actually, it’s here on the computer, but it’s my son’s software and I have never used it and just don’t seem to have the time to try and learn it. You are right about the blown bits in the b&w, I was really concentrating on getting things right on the blocks and overdid things a bit in the background.

Both images are beautiful but I prefer the monochrome this time. I like the gray on the distant shore. Lovely eye.

Thank you Ryan. Gray is a seasonal colour around here 🙂

ha! Never here. Even our June Gloom is notoriously colorful.
Still, beautiful image.

I like both but the b&w is so dramatic that I have to choose it. 🙂

I prefer the B&W version of this – the colour in the first one doesn’t really add greatly to the image, but the simplicity of the conversion and the slight ‘beefing up’ of the contrast improves the scene considerably. Good choice to try the B&W alternative.

Hi LensScaper – thanks for your comment. I thought I had put the b&w at the top of the post, as I usually do with my favourite image (as the B&W is), but must have missed it somehow during the rush to get another post together after messing up with the one that was supposed to come out today.
