Tide Pool Sunset II
Another sunset reflecting in a tide-pool taken this past weekend. This pool is a bit east from the first one that I showed, and the sunset has progressed to a nice glow.

Lovely. I especially like how the contrast and color variation in the rock plays nicely as a foil to the color variation and smoothness of sky/water.

Thanks Ryan! There are great colours all around, even through the surface of the water on the bottom of the pool, though that is hard to see in these versions.

Wouldn’t it be great it we could see in HDR? By wearing HDR goggles, for example?

I think we sort of do – one of the purposes of HDR is to catch that dynamic range that the brain lets us see by piecing together what we see. Though in the more extreme contrasts the brain is not too good at it. Graduated tint sunglasses would go a long way to getting the same effect in a location like this one.
But those goggles sound like a good idea. They could be set to extreme HDR effects, or natural, depending on one’s mood.

Every once in a while I feel like we live inside an abalone shell for a few minutes.

Very nicely put! And it does seem like that from time to time, especially near the shore.

These are both excellent shots. Your sunset walk was certainly worth taking!

Hi Melinda – it was a productive half hour or so.

Beautiful images, I prefer the composition in the second image. That trio of rocks in the foreground is so effective.
