Finally, chrome is back in style. I’ve never been to a Boat Festival but it looks like fun and a lot of photo ops as well.
It’s difficult to stay out of the reflection of a chrome object so I don’t put much thought into it. I do try to keep the glaring highlights down to a minimum and let the reflections fall where they may.There is no substitute for an nice overcast day, though.

Thanks Ken. Boat shows are fun for a variety of reasons, at least classic boats. It might be harder to find a lot of interesting views in a plastic boat show.
That sounds like good advice for shooting chrome, though you do seem to keep yourself out of them – maybe keeping the highlights out keeps you out too!

You would be welcome in the chrome club, though I am a rather desultory member as chrome has to come to me, rather than the other way around. But it does, from time to time.

I like the second and fourth shots the best – the contrast between chrome and wood in both of them is very attractive.

Thanks Melinda. I was just looking at Ken’s post and thinking we had a certain similarity going. I definitely was thinking about Ken’s great car chrome shots when I was taking these. For one thing I was wondering how the heck he keeps his reflection out of the photo as I was not successful on most angles.
I think the second is probably my favourite chrome shot. That is a very large boat in the background, the same one with the white hull, red arrow and pipers on the deck.

I am not up on vampires (not that I admit anyway) so can’t really comment on that. He does like red though.
