More shiny details from boats from the Classic Boat Festival, chrome plated and other shiny metal parts (or is that outboard motor housing chromed just for looks?)

Oh, what an eye for detail you have! The first image especially spoke to me – wow!

Thanks Lynn – the details are sumptuous and not all that hard to see 🙂

There is just so much to take in when it comes to marine photography on the coast. Great set, my friend!

Hey Toad – I figured you would like this chrome given your love of marinas and of older cars how you could you not?

Finally, chrome is back in style. I’ve never been to a Boat Festival but it looks like fun and a lot of photo ops as well.
It’s difficult to stay out of the reflection of a chrome object so I don’t put much thought into it. I do try to keep the glaring highlights down to a minimum and let the reflections fall where they may. There is no substitute for an nice overcast day, though.

Thanks Ken. Boat shows are fun for a variety of reasons, at least classic boats. It might be harder to find a lot of interesting views in a plastic boat show.
That sounds like good advice for shooting chrome, though you do seem to keep yourself out of them – maybe keeping the highlights out keeps you out too!

You are mining a very rich seam of images here from this Boat Festival, Ehpem. I’m gonna have to join the Chrome Club!

You would be welcome in the chrome club, though I am a rather desultory member as chrome has to come to me, rather than the other way around. But it does, from time to time.

You and Oneowner both posted shots with chrome (http://bit.ly/16ePRDd). I can’t believe Chrome Monday arrived, and I missed it.
I like the second and fourth shots the best – the contrast between chrome and wood in both of them is very attractive.

Thanks Melinda. I was just looking at Ken’s post and thinking we had a certain similarity going. I definitely was thinking about Ken’s great car chrome shots when I was taking these. For one thing I was wondering how the heck he keeps his reflection out of the photo as I was not successful on most angles.
I think the second is probably my favourite chrome shot. That is a very large boat in the background, the same one with the white hull, red arrow and pipers on the deck.

Do you think maybe Ken’s a vampire? That would account for no reflections, wouldn’t it?

I am not up on vampires (not that I admit anyway) so can’t really comment on that. He does like red though.

I had to Google it. (My Research Department was busy elsewhere.)
Good point re. red….
