Mayne Shore III
I like the solitary feeling of this stretch of Mayne Island shoreline.
I have only been here when it is overcast and quite grey.
I wonder if it feels less lonely when the sun is warm and the skies are blue.

This has a nice filmy (and film-y) feel to it.

Thanks! I think so too. A particular kind of colour.

It’s a very nice image – when I looked back at it, it seemed like a vintage postcard.

Yes, it does now that you mention it. It has the old colour printed postcard feel. That must be why I like it.

it is a lonesome landscape. I do like the way those logs lie against the smooth gray rocks.

Re the logs – Me too. The tones are also lovely.

The tones are a film thing – I have two shots of this view, very slightly different exposures and the tones are totally different – I can scan them look the same, or adjust them in post to get there either. This is the better of the two.

Hi Sherry – logs are a major feature on the beaches out here – mostly they are escapees from logging transportation, but some are from erosion. This shore is immediately across from the outflow of the Fraser River which is an immense river system that spits a lot of logs into the ocean. I will post next a pile of logs, since you and Kate seem to like them, and I did too which is why I took some pictures just of logs.
