Museum of Social Justice
This image was made on the corner of Olvera Street, near the Los Angeles Union Station, at night after the bar and before dinner.
I was framing a shot of this doorway so that Hitty Tansy could have her photo taken here.
Tansy is interested in social justice.
But, instead, this man came and sat down in the picture, so I made this shot instead.
I think he is probably interested in social justice too.

Has an air of sadness, this photo. Social justice just isn’t happening much at the moment. 😓

Hi Kate – I think the man’s posture adds a great deal to the photo, giving it the air of sadness otherwise lacking. I looked at this spot on google maps and street view has a 2015 image which has no Museum signage at all. Perhaps this has come into being in the past few months.

Yes, his posture is very expressive. Maybe the museum came into being when The Big Orange took over the White House and made social justice extinct. Now a museum is the only place it can be found in a petrified form.

I sure hope not, even though in general professional terms I am all for museums and lithified objects, that would be a tragedy.

That is a brilliant link. I’ve never seen that 360 degree view before on google. It is interesting the way all the faces are pixelated and stay that way where ever you move.

Hi Kate – it is cool isn’t it. Last summer I posted some links to similar things Google has done in the Gwaii Haanas National Park – it was quite a surprise to find “street view” working on remote waterways and trails through heritage sites.

I must’ve missed those, sadly.
