I am worried about the erosion of the drain edges, how much longer will this important monument survive the battering of the ocean?

It has noticeably changed in the 5 or 6 years that I have been photographing it. But eventually it will be worn down and the city engineers will deem it has to go. Or, since there is a new sewage and water disposal system imminent in this area, it is possible that the storm drain system will be revised and this part remade. I am not too worried yet, and I do have it well documented!

The sentient man with active brain provides nice contrast to the inanimate drain. I thought at first that he was rolling a cigarette , but looked more closely to see that he is texting. This is 2017, not 1977.

Hi Richard – texting is a strong possibility, there is a (probably lesser) likelihood he is looking at photos he just took of his kids.
