Gravy Flagellum

I made roast beef a couple of weeks ago. With gravy.

After dinner, and before I started on the dishes, I noticed this pattern. It was in the roasting pan which had extra gravy in it. I suppose a spoon had been resting in it for a while, but don’t really know. In any case, it caught my eye and I had to get the camera out.

Had I found this pattern under a microscope in a tiny sample of gravy I expect the public health authorities would have descended, and withdrawn my cooking credentials.
