Dinghy and Dory
Some more small rowing boats from the Classic Boat Festival of a week ago. I love the rope work on the small dinghy, named Fred above and in the last shot below. I am not sure what the wood pole is attached to the bow – it is not a mast as it had not mechanism for fixing it in place, or to attach sails. I am wondering if it is a towing bar, or to do with lifting the dinghy onto a larger boat.
I have a soft spot for the dory too, my parents had one when I was growing up though not as robust as this one.

I like the ‘offsets’ in the first two images. It provides room within the composition to ‘hint’ at what was also there nearby. Nicely done Ehpem

Thanks Andy. I seem to quite often learn photo terminology from you, this being another example. I like the hints too – it seems quite natural to do this around boats. I will have to learn to extend it to other aspects of my photography.

FRED looks like a substantial boat. And the green paint and honey colored wood is a great combination. It’s easy to see that somebody loves this boat.
