This storm drain structure in Ross Bay is one of my most frequently photographed subjects, as you can see at this link.
When I was making these beach pictures I was thinking of a black and white conversion without knowing for sure that the expired film would pretty much require such treatment.
Fairfield too can offer up a bit of the surreal.
Oi is an interjection, usually in a negative situation when you are angrily trying to get someone’s attention
Is that what is going on here?
Fernwood can offer up some unusual scenes.
Here we have a white armchair with graffiti and a plate in two parts.
Sounds like it could be a concerto.
Week six’s photographs are taken with an Olympus XA2, a camera that lives in my pocket. The film is expired Fuji Superia X-TRA 400, probably stored indifferently and most likely dating to about 2004. The back popped open about half way through the roll, damaging a number of shots. This camera had been a trial to light seal – it ended up needed double seals at the door hinge which makes the door a bit tight to close, and I guess the latch did not fully catch this time. I have run quite a few rolls through the camera (see here for posts with this camera) and this has never happened before. I will be more attentive to the catch click when loading the film in the future.
This post shows some experiments with scanning software – if you have a solution for any problem…

This building was catching the sun on one of the few nice days of the past two or three weeks.
My last shot on my first ever roll of Ilford XP2 was taken here and I walked away for a couple of blocks, but then decided to load an expired roll of Fuji colour film and go back.
For colour versions of several of these shots, done under different scanning protocols, see my simultaneously published post at 52Rolls.net where this is featured as my roll six.
However, the roll of XP2 that has been featured here this week is also, in part, a week/roll 6 product. The last image on this post is the last from that roll and was truncated by the camera into a square format – the right edge was ragged and has been cropped away.
Every now and then the observant might spot the moon attempting skater tricks along edges of buildings.
For the unbelievers, below is a crop with detail. Tailslide for sure.
Cafe Mexico in Market Square had a fire a couple of weeks ago.
I am guessing that the neon below will not be lit for a while, and the sign on Wharf Street will swing alone for some time.
In a way it is a shame that the horrible bandito cartoon stereotypes in their signage did not burn too, so that it might be replaced with something more Mexican.
See my About page for details.
